Since I can now take my number with me I am seriously considering moving to a different company. I have been looking at Sprint but would like to know from others what services they have had and stuff like coverage etc. Here I will start:

Nextel
Price: Expensive $60 a month - free incoming calls - internet.

Coverage: All major metro areas and interstate highways, digital.

Call quality - Rarely drop calls - digital so either works or dosen't.

Phones: Motorola only. Nice but expensive.

Coverage at cabin: NONE no never (2 harbors is end of digital coverage)

If I recall correctly I didn't get coverage at your actual cabin either. I do remember that I did get coverage at Greenfields but I'm pretty sure it was analog roam. Sprint roaming (like all the others) is expensive. I think it's like .40 cents a minute plus another .25 cents long distance. So far though I do love my coverage on sprint. It was cool when Jen and I were in Vegas and we could split up and call each other as much as we want. I like our plan a lot. It's 100 bucks a month for 2000 minutes. That includes long distance, all the web and picture stuff, voice mail. Then you can add other phones for only 10 bucks a month. We used to have to worry about our minutes with ATT and Jen uses her phone a ton for work. With 2000 it's not a worry anymore. Even when I challenge her to use 1000 minutes she cant (which says a lot!). When I was shopping I found that Sprint had the most straight foreward pricing plans. Everyone else seemed to have a million different plans and some included this and that and so on. You should also check into verizon I know a few people at work are happy with them.

I have Sprint. Coverage is good. I don't think I got coverage at your cabin either but I have my phone set to never roam so I will get no signal if it is off digital. Lots of phones to choose from and I think the pricing is competitive. I know 3M just dropped all of their other cellphone vendors and signed an exclusive contract with Sprint. They had Verizon and Qwest in here also but they are gone as of Jan 1st. I also know of a little trick to save you around 5-10 bucks a month off of your bill if your so inclined. I have never gotten a dropped call in the cities. I have lost a connection due to being in a valley or on the edge of digital range. I suppose your phone plays into this also though.

Gisel, I was looking at the picture page and I do have to admit, you look pretty good for a gaming female. Having said that, don't expect any sympathy when we meet on the battlefield. I am a fighter first, lover second.

Also remember that if you call other sprint PCS users, it does not use your minutes.

I have actually found my nextel plan to be better than almost any other I have seen. I pay $60 per month as well but I get 500 reg mins, 2500 nights and weekend mins, 100 DC mins, free incoming, free long distance, and no roaming (as you said it either works or it dosnt).

The NEXTEL coverage has vastly improved over the past couple years. No more dead spots anywhere in the twin cities.

I was actually going to switch until they improved my plan about a year ago. I also like the motorola phones alot but the ones set up for nextel seem to really chew up batteries.

The battery issue would be my only complaint.

I dont think you are gonig to find a much better deal with another company unless you are running over on your mins or are going to set up a family plan of some kind. In which case NEXTEL is certainly not the way to go.

Well I have been happy with Nextel over the last five year. I just would like to cut my bill down a bit because I don't use the phone as much anymore. I like the internet feature and use it alot. I can't find a Nextel plan that includes it for under $45.

Sprint has a plan that ends up being $35. I also am looking at a shared deal with Michelle - would be like $30 each with 1000 minutes and two phones for $150.

So far from all the phone's and services I've had I'm happy with Tmobile. I get 600 anytime minutes unlimited nights and weekends and can call anyone else on the Tmobile network for free. I've only gone over on minutes once and they were kinda cool about it I called and explaned how I never go over on minutes and they gave me 100 free minutes tward my overage. I've gone from here to Texas and never lost my signal once exept in Iowa for a 5 mile stretch. I've gone all the way up past Aitkin and never lost my signal either. all around I'd say Tmobile. I didn't like sprint cause they sucked at costumer support, and random other charges.

Also with Tmobile they have many shared plans, and you can get free phones if you want with new service. they have some ok freebes that's what I took and after 6 months they start giving you X amount if you want to upgrade you phone to a newer style. so the longer you keep your phone the less you'll have to pay for replacement if you break it. I've broke 3 so far and never had a problem gettin a new one or the broke one repaired promply

I have verizon it is expensive $65 a month but I have almost zero loss of coverage In usa that is all 50 states...hawaii and alaska also works in all westren states which sprint didnt work in alaska and only worked on ohau. I was a longtime sprint user prior and was very happy with them. I also got a signal from thr road this last year at your cabin. So for me the coverage is worth the extra $$$ I seem to have had a somewhat nomadic lifestyle this year.
