My work laptop is a piece of shit.
After 2 hours of work it locked up dumping a report due today. Causes for this disaster.
1) POS Microsoft OS (win95) and Excel 2000.
2) POS Compaq P2 with 1/2mb ram.
3) It was a short notice important report.
4) Its my $hitty luck.

Any solutions to remedying this fucking POS. My company won't spend a dime on this thing. They did order me a Sun Solaris Workstation in June. Which I have yet to recieve.

Rant away on shitty work PC or other technical problems. This is theroputic.

You could save every 15 min.

At the last company I worked for a guy got fired cause he hadn't saved an AutoCAD drawing often enough and he lost 3 hours of work when the computer crashed.

bounce the piece of shit, preferably from a height of three or more stories. that is the only remedy for computers.... shock therapy.

I have Autosave capabilities, wich lock up this POS. I am getting a referbed and scrubed laptop in a few hours. Basicaly it crashes every time I save, print or format aq file. I was thinking launching it in the air and seeing how many times I can shoot it before it is destroyed.

Hey Trany,

You could try hooking it up to an 'incorrect' power source. Say hook up a pair of jumper cables to the truck, clamp a pair of nails into the other ends, and touch the nails to the battery contacts... Zap!

"I dunno, it just quit working!"

Then, of course, when they throw it out as unrepairable, root around in the dumpster for it and use it for target practice...

Ouch, that's harsh, sounds like they were trying to make a special example of someone. Bet that taught him (and his former coworkers) the value of saving your work often. If we did that at D&T, we wouldn't have any employees left!
