Another day where i have to deal with making changes to our Qwest account and I am being driven insane!

I have had very good luck with qwest reliablity of their networsks, DSL, voice, etc.

And their tech support is top notch.

But BEND OVER if you ever want to make a change to your account because the account managers dont know their ass from a all consuming black hole with their head sucked into oblivion. Every time i make the slightest change to our service we no joking, have to call back twice minnimum after we get bills with all kinds of mistery chargers and services.

On the bright side DSL is getting MUCH cheaper. [Big Grin]

At work here we now have:
-domain name registration
-10 domain name e-mail boxes
-100mb Web space (shared hosting)
-1.5mb dn / 896k up DSL or FASTER Guaranteed
-Static IP
-Internet access
-Free DSL router w/ VPN
-Complimentary Search engine registration with up to 8 search engines.
-24/7 customer service

all for under 45$ per month

At home i pay 50$ for the same speed
(1.5m dn / 896k up) 5 frontiernet.net e-mail boxes
and 2mb or 5mb (i cant remember exactly) of web space but no hosting and a dynamic IP.

Poor fools with cable...

One word "latency"..........

I ping under 20 on a lot of servers. You are lucky to get under 100.

Oh and try and download at over 400kbs on DSL [Smile]

at home i ping at 20-40 on most servers that are in the midwest. or are on trunk lines.

At work with 640dn we have downloaded multiple files 3-4 at over 100kbps each. It is all very dependent on what and where we are downloading from. Now with the speed upgrade i think it will compare with that no problem. 300-400

In all seriousness I'm just messing with you guys.

What I am excited about is that we are saving about 80$ per month with our new plan and we are getting more services. (shared domain hosting and static ip)

I probably will be starting a gaming server if we can all decide on a game to play. Since we now have a static IP and plenty of bandwidth.

Very cool. I just hope you don't have that the "rate adaptive" DSL that made me switch because of the high latency.

Just throw Windows XP on the machine you want the server on, foward the port for remote desktop, and set up the server from home.
