So I figured out why my gun was choping balls all day on saturday and it was a direct result of the barrel I was using. I had an older J&J barrel that was designed to fit an older version of the 98 custom. The barrel did not thread on all the way and thus it had a gap that was cutting the balls as they loaded into the chamber. I took it to the paintball shop in eagan (GDX paintball). He told me that there was a production change in the barrel thread for the 98 custom recently and the newest ones are a slightly tighter thread on the marker side. I checked one of the newer model J&J ceramic barrels he had there and it fit perfectly. Threads all the way on and off no problem. He also checked my old J&J barrel on two 98 customs he had in the shop and it threaded onto them perfectly. Just not onto mine (or Luke's). I bought the barrel he had there, he gave me a good price on it because he felt sorry for me. The guys at GDX paint ball are great. Very nice and helpfull also very knowledgeable.
If my old J&J ceramic barrel will thread onto one of your guys's gun. You can have it for 20$. I paid 38$ shipped to my door which was better than any price I could find on ebay.
I have a feeling it might work on one of your guns and I think it will likely work on hauser's since his is older.

If it ends up working out only on mine, I have a smartparts teardrop 14" barrel on my gun someone else could use. It is a very nice barrel that is comparable to the J&J. (very good reviews and around 50 bucks new)
-------------------- Gisel, I was looking at the picture page and I do have to admit, you look pretty good for a gaming female. Having said that, don't expect any sympathy when we meet on the battlefield. I am a fighter first, lover second. Posts: 2220 | From: Prescott, WI, USA | Registered: Apr 2001
