Sounds good. I should have a little more time to work on pages tonight Ill get all of the pages/ links working correctly so the whole layout is there and then we can start working on content/ RSS feeds, etc.

Can you upload the new version of ws_ftp again to the ftp. Looks like everything we did last night is gone.... No big deal I can resetup what I did last night in about 10 minutes. I cant do it from work but I can upload it from home tonight I have a copy of the whole site on my machine so we didnt lose anything but the boards stuff. I update my side then upload it live so we are okay as far as the site goes It should be good practice for both of us to initially download the pages when working on them so that we dont overwrite anything the other person was working on Posted by Klaus (Member # 66) on :
I re-uploaded the blank ubb message board to the new site at lunch.... Make sure when you repost the site tonight you do not write over the "ubb" and "cgi-bin" folders.

You might need to go into your profile and adjust the time offset to I believe 3 for the new server.

I have it working here at work but haven't installed it at home yet. You will have to walk me though connecting to it (I am sure it's similar to FP but don't want to mess anything up)
What other add-on's do you think we should install? FTP for sure. I might install one of the photo galleries. I would like a file section that is password protected. Hey - we got 2 gigs to play with now.
I can also install a addon for ubb that will allow each user to upload files.

I guess I wouldnt even use the upload functions in dreamweaver. I am a big fan of using FTP to upload and download everything so that is what I suggest we stick with.The photo gallerry is easy to use and no setup is required so that is an easy thing to do.I would suggest downloading the java downloader which makes uploading pics AWESOME. Through the vweb control panel, you can read abouot how to make a secure section. It should be as simple as telling it what folder you want secure I am going to push you to read the code side of your site so that you can use Homesite (included with Dreaweaver) Once you get the hang of it, you will never go back to the WYSIWYG tools except when doing layouts. Really it comes down to undertanding what tags are used for what so that you can easily zoom down the code and find the area your updating. one thing to note is that we only have 2 gigs of space on Klaus's server space. We would really need to watch uploading large content. We could do weekly uploads and then pull them down after everyone has had a change to snag them There can be unlimited FTP usernames so creating users would be no problem. I alreay uploaded a file for Klaus so we know that this will work perfectly.

Can we tie the ftp section to the user name logon on the front page and use apache ftp or something. Not that a web based ftp client is that big of deal but it's nice.

I think that the public FTP folder is separate and cannot be pointed to for security purposes. I dont think we can do tat but we can check The site is in a separate folder and I think thhe host locks down the ftp folder...

Well I would like to be able to upload files to the http folder so that they can be linked to with in the forum. I guess that can be achieved through ftp links tho.

As long as the folder properties allow you to link to those items within that public FTP folder. Not sure if they allow that or lock it down at Startlogic You can test it by putting in the path for that file I uploaded already I guess...

Klaus, I created the private section of the site (nothing in there yet) I need you to go in to the vdeck and add usernames and passwords for everyone you want to give access to. I would suggest using their forum information so it is easy to remember.

Doh. I could have been more clear lol. I dont know what I am gonna do with the username and password box. That might get removed because we are using the other process of logging into private. I am having a hard time using dreamweaver to update the site because of the tables so if you do pull up a page in dreamweaver, dont be suprised if it looks funny

Find one you like(on the internet search for avatar) and I will upload it to the server or you can browse the pre-installed ones. Go into your profile and look in the avatar section.

It's on the other server still... Any possibility you have a copy of that image? I can't connect to the old server anymore because ftp.noncompliance.com (address I use to upload images) now points to the new server. I am trying to get the IP addy of the old server so I can get all the avatars from it.

FYI, I had to submit a ticket to figure out why the include I created wont work... I also called and they told me to leave it broken so that the developer could see wht is wrong. Basically it isnt parsing the include so the left nav menu is gone including its tables from the home page. As soon as he gets to look at it, I will fix it Posted by Klaus (Member # 66) on :

I would download the java plugin. It lets you pick a group of pictures and click one button to load them all . If you cant find it, I will upload it for you this weekend to the FTP.

I have everything ready for content... I also have the whole site setup on Server side includes so we can update one include to update menu's/ links... Much cleaner this way. QUESTION: How come sometimes when I post I get an error report telling me there is "flood protection" and I can't retry for 120 seconds? REALLY ANNOYIG, especially if it was a long post. It used to happen to me before too, so it's not a new thing.

The smileys....I finally figure out. See at the bottom of the page the quick reply box. There is a link to Instant Graemlins. Click that and a box will pop up. I really like this template (blue with shaded topics) and it does not have the smileys included on the reply form.

Klaus, Have you installed the photo gallery tool for uploading pictures? It is much faster and easier to load bulk photos... I did 15-20 photos in about 1 minute this morning.
