I use a small program called Server Watch to see who is on the CS server without connecting. All you need to do to set it up is install it and put the IP/port of the server(s) you want to watch. It will ping the server once a minute and display in your system tray the number of people connected. If you right click on the icon you can see who is connected. It also has the ability to play sounds when certain players join and some other functions. I recommend installing it – it will help us all hook up on the server.
