Damn, I go away for 4 days and I drop from 23 to 89 WTF. I guess I need to spend the next few days from 5 to midnight playing to get my stats back up there.

Yeah, I have been invited to try out with VvV. We'll see how that goes. I enjoy playing CS so much I figured I'd try out with the clan that takes it seriously enough...
Not that 4x4 isn't fun, I just want to participate in tourneys, scrims and actual clan stuff...

It really is too bad we don't have Hauser, Mike and a couple more people or we could enter the central ladder - I think we could do well.
I don't think you will have a problem getting into VvV Boondock, seems like they are hurting lately. I have heard they have had problems during matches because not everyone shows up. Otherwise, their membership is top notch. Good luck.

Ill be back to some degree soon. Luke has a modem and I think I have a dial up from work to use. I have been itching to play. if Boondock goes to VvV thats more reason for us to shoot him in the head

Umm yeah I got the modem all fired up and connected only to find that my connectin was a whoppin' 40k hehe. Could barely open web pages let alone play cs with that. I will try Luke's modem tonight to see if its any better. I doubt it though. Looks like its ISDN for me
Fucking Wisconsin! Maybe if I rubbed some cow shit which is rather abundant out here on my phone line I would get a better signal.

Jomomma is the autoshotty king! Damn, I guess everyone forgave you because you had >150 ping. I don't know what is up with some of the maps on Kanker lately but I have been getting higher pings also. Some guy was playing Monday with a 400 ping and was number one on a couple maps..... so it can be done, you just need to get used to it.
What I have never gotten past (even when playing a lot and at my best), is that I just cant be consistent. One map I'm like 10-5, 19-9, then its two or three in a row of 2-14........ Makes me think its just not really skill but a whole lotta luck......

Join the group! We all have ups and downs. I think it depends on the team you are on and the map you are on. Look at Duke last night he was 0-8 on inferno with us, because we couldn't win a round and get $$$. If the team gets off to a bad start and the other team is a bunch of AMP whores - do like Eric and leave until the next map.... just kidding Eric

You may have ups and downs, but you folks in the top 100 are WAY more consistent than I've ever been able to achieve. No biggie, just an observation. I long ago learned not to get spooled up about games and such (golf is another where the madder you get the worse you play), it just makes it worse (other than the swearing and banging the table/desk, thats part of the fun too).

Well besides teams and the map played you pick up some tips while playing a lot. Boondock and Rocklobster please add to this list. (alot of these are obvious but since Brad and a couple other people are starting to play I will write them all)
Aim for the upper body - I find that the recoil will make the shot rise up and sometimes hit the head.
I like the Aug because it can be zoomed slightly.
Don't use the silencer when shooting the M4 it gets less accurate.
Shoot in short bursts. Wait for the cross hairs to get smaller before shooting again. Only the first bullet is real accurate.
Only shoot full auto when in close and aim about neck level.
Always run with the knife out at the beginning of the round. Faster.
Always have the pistol ready when your main weapon needs to be reloaded. Instead of reloading switch to the pistol.
When using the sniper rifles don't zoom in twice, just zoom in once.
When you can, crouch while shooting making it more accurate. If the player you are shooting at is also returning fire and aiming at your head - as you crouch it will make him shoot over you.
Walk a lot and listen to others footsteps while checking your radar.
Flash gernades are a good denfense against snipers, but only effect them if the gernade can be seen when they are zoomed in.
Never use the Machine gun or dual Berettas.
More later.....

Here is a trick. If you run out of ammo on your gun and want to switch to your pistol fast try this. Push in the scroll wheel and push it slightly up and let go. It will switch you to your pistol without having to click. It takes a little practice but after you get it you can do it faster than if you have a button for last wep.

1 shot to the head is worth 4-5 to any other part of the body. So if you can aim and shoot a guy in the head at long range while he is just trying to hit you anywhere you will most likely land your shot before he gets enough hits to kill you. The M4 and the AK have a way of finding their mark to the forhead at very long range if you have the crosshairs on the upper body and you are crouched.
Turn your mouse sensetivity down (not alot though because you need to be able to get the crosshairs on the person in a hurry). Precise aming is much more important in this game than being able to wheel around really fast.
Play cool and calm with the focus on aiming. Shooting wildy will only help if you are really lucky.
Stay with groups of people. If you are by yourself and run into 3-4 guys then they really only have one choice of targets, you.
The MP-5 i now like to call the lazy gun. When i start to get into lazy play mode where i dont' want to concintrate to hard the MP-5 is perfect. Its rate of fire is out of this world and it is just as accurate standing vs running vs crouching. Go full auto with this gun ALL the time.

The dual Berretas is the fasted firing semi auto weapon(s) in the game. They will fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.
The machine gun is cool if you're just fucking around but i never buy it because if i have that kind of money there are pleanty of other good weapons to buy.

You ever hit anything with the fast shooting Berettas? I haven't
I prefer the P90 over the MP5 because it can hold 50 rounds before a reload and it fires fast. Can't hit shit at any distance - but good for close range maps. Price of $2350 is high compared to the MP5 at $1500 - I just hate the MP5 because I have really bad luck with it.
I like to follow in 1st person mode the best player on the server after I die and see how they play - you can learn a lot from how they shoot.
Never stand behind a teammate - because the enemy can fire through both of you, but you can't fire through a teammate.
I prefer 800*600 screen resolution and a low sensitivity like Chad said.

I truly started improving when I mastered the 3 big CS rules:
1) Burst. By tapping the mouse button and limiting your shots to 2-3 round bursts, you really do gain accuracy and control. 2) Aim. By aiming around the neck area whenever you are running around you have more of a chance to get that first head shot when you first see the enemy. One thing that is overlooked is the fact that the FIRST bullet hits where you're aiming, the rest go astray. The best thing I've found is that when playing maps thousands of times you'll learn where people's heads stick out, or where they first enter the building/bomsite/hallway/area. The bitch of playing on Kanker is that there are so many random people and noobs that don't really know how to play so they're just running around aimlessly. That forces me/us out of our strategic gameplay into the "let's run around like our legs are on fire" game... 3. Crouch. It really does make a difference, especially if you're using the BURST technique (see above). I don't understand how some of these people get strafing headshots ALL THE TIME, but even I've done it, luck bounces around in this silly game. BUT, crouching while firing is far more reliable.
Crouch, aim, burst. DIE DOUG-E-DOUG and all you fucking worthless little shitbuckets!
And as far as guns go I go
deagle mp5 m4/ak aug/sg552
Klaus you are the man with the p90 lately...I have it bound, but don't like the "50 bullets wow I can hold down the trigger forever" style. It's a little too crazy, even when burst firing.
Yes, mp5 is the lazy man's weapon, but hey, I'm not going to buy a fucking MAC10. Getting a kill with that requires a certain thing I don't rely on...luck. Like these fucking guys are impressive because they went 5 - 14 on a map but used the mac10 the whole time. Whoopydee doo you fucking jackass, thanks for the help with our mission. Fucking jackfucks. Same with the tmp...jesus the fucking tmp.
I do however LOVE the pump shotty. It totally goes against my playstyle (see above), as it's a run, jump, aim weapon, but it is pretty fun...and I love it when you go on a tear with the pump...
Phew! That's about all for now...see you online bitches! Have business to attend to tonight (LOTR) but I might find a way to get on later.

That kid is really starting to get on my nerves. He always joins the easy team - he is the ultimate team stacker. He isn't a bad player but I still hate him and his 5 yr old voice & sense of humor.

I think a 5 button optical mouse might help.
Also, I bound the keypad numbers to the same items as the regular numbers. That way if I need to switch to the pistol or knife I can do it more quickly.
And finally, keep your beer away from your keyboard so when you do get so pissed you have to pound the table it won't spill into it.
Maybe I'll have to try playing this game again . . .

I broke 1000 in ranking this weekend, plus I'm # 4 with the auto-shotty. Believe it or not that was never a weapon of choice for me, but since I'm on a run now I might as well go with it right.....

You will move up fast now that you have played a few times. If you are going to get good with the auto shotty (or pump shotty) you also need to get good with the Desert Eagle for long range shots. And practice switching between them constantly. Doug-e-Doug the resident 12 yr old on the server is good with the auto.
Anyone play with that dss.tseng guy? Holy fuckin shit is that guy good (or cheats). Someone mentioned that he played under a different name and was banned for cheating a year ago - however the thread was shut down by the admin. That's my only complaint about the Kanker forums - threads get locked at the first sign of disagreement..... Very Annoying.

I absolutly suck at having to change to pistol or knife, (I use my scroll button to access nade's) so I rarely bother (or have the $$$$$) to be upgrading my pistol on top of everything else. If I have to I'll glock'em.......

You are number 1 with the Auto Shotty now Joe.
I played with that gun for a bit last night - I forgot how much damage it can do! I was like 10-2 with it.

I hope you do give us some good competition on the server - we need it. A lot of our friends are just starting to play and Kanker is a bit rough for them. Didn't you say your friend with the Land Cruiser is just starting to play too?
Ender is a team jumper? Bad Ender!

No, He dosnt go as far as jumping teams, he just quits when he ends up on the losing team.
Last night him, me, and a bunch of losers were terrorists on dust and the CT team was as Stacked agenst us as ive ever seen it. He quit 3 rounds into it saying "this sucks, im leaving" But by the end of the round i went 15-13 the rest of my team was well under .500 and the ENTIRE 9 man COUNTER terrorist team was above .500. Not that i am good but i just stuck with it because you get lots of good experience when the odds are aganst you.
I'm sure he will have an excuse but he has done it before.
