Well I am getting ready to trade up to a auto routing color GPS unit. So I am selling my EMAP. I really like this unit - it has a large screen and nice interface. If anyone is looking for a maping GPS pretty cheap this would be a good buy. Here is what I am including:
Garmin EMAP (Retail $299) 8mb Garmin memory card Garmin Computer Cable ($25) Gamrin Car adaptor (cigarette lighter power)($25) Garmin dash mount w/two bases. ($15) Garmin Metro Guide CD (all city streets in USA) ($100) Garmin Topo 3 CD Set (all Topo maps for USA) ($100)

Nice. I hadn't seen those yet. Test the color screens in sunlight. I'm sure that Garmin has worked out this issue. But we bought a survey grade GPS unit in the fall for work, and when we were researching the units we found a few units that had color LCD that were unreadable in the sun.
That thing looks nice tho.

Well I agree the tough part with any of these units is reading them in the sunlight. It says:
• Sunlight-readable display with 256-color transreflective TFT display (1.5'' W x 2.2'' H; 2.6'' diagonally); color operating system with new look-and-feel
But who knows. I seem to mostly use mine at night and for that I really like the Emaps backlight. The Rino has a super small screen and the backlight is orange, which I hate.

I love all the contrasting colors on the bearing page, and all their examples on the link you posted. I've faith that garmin wouldn't put one out that had those issues with sunlight.
Funny, I've never had probs with reading my emap, in all types of light.
I hate all the etrex's (and everyone in AMRG has them cause of size/weight, cant use them, and I'm been designated GPS boy). The contrast on them is really goofy, and half the time I cant read them under plain overhead floresents.

I sold the Emap to someone on the IH8Mud.com forum for $200.... Thanks for the suggestion Joe. Now I just have to wait (and save) for the new GPS to come out in Feb.
