I got 2001 GTI this weekend and drove it home from California. (Luke drove with me)
2001 Volkswagen GTI 35,000 miles (after a 2k road trip home) 1.8 Turbo engine Loaded interior with black leather, moonroof, cd changer, Bose monsoon sound system etc.
The guy put about 5 grand in performance parts into it including
Interior: Momo Shift knob
Exterior: Limo Tint, Kamei Grill & Eyelids, Roof spoiler, Hiper White Headlights and High Beams, Smoked corner lenses
Engine: Neuspeed KO4 Turbo Kit and Neuspeed 1.1 bar P-chip, Carbonio Cold Air Intake, Neuspeed Turbo Intake Pipe, GHL 3" Turboback Exhaust, ABD Racing Front Mount Intercooler, Stratmosphere Hyperboost Diverter Valve,Denso Iridium Spark plugs, 4.0 bar fuel pressure regulator
Suspension: Neuspeed Sport Springs, Tokico Sport Shocks and sway bars.
After driving it 2 thousand miles I can tell you that this thing kicks ass. With all of the upgrades it is pushing right around 240 hp and 265 lb ft. of torque. I won't know for sure until I get it dyno'd but I can believe it because 0-60 seems to be right in the 5-5.5 second range
Here are a couple pics.

Very cool. Sounds like a great price you got. I once drove a GTI to Florida with Bjergo - fun trip until the timing belt broke
Talk to Steve about turbo maintanence - I think it's probably the same turbo he has.... Don't turn it up too much.

Nice car and all but don't fail to mention that one of the performance mods is a salvaged title.
All in all it sounds like it will be alot of fun!

The Title will not be a salvaged title once I transfer it to a WI title. I can set up an appointment with the State Patrol to inspect it and then they will approve a non salvage title Of course it must pass inspection of being "road worthy" hehe I looked into this before I purchased it.

Good luck , notoriously hard to get approved and it dosnt change the fact that the car was totaled.
If it works out its a good deal though!

Regardless, I am very happy with my purchase. I really only need to worry about it if I plan to sell it so it can be something to work on if I really feel the need.

I think chad is just jelous because he did the same thing, but the car Mike bought could smoke the car he is buying like a 5 cent cigar in a 1/4 mile race.
Stop trying to fucking criticize everyone elses descisions just because its something you wouldnt have done.

LOL, I DID do it moron!!!!! I get to critisize him because i did the same thing. Perks of doing it first.
Give me 6 months and I'll have that car by almost two lengths in the 1/4 mile. And ill have spent less doing it.
Nice car though mike. Nothing quite like an out of the box rocket.

I am anxious to see your new toy also Chad. It has been a while since we have had the pleasure of SQUEEZING in an RX7 hehe
It will be very cool if you decide to do some performance stuff to your new car. I know those little bastards can really fly with some work.
