Anyone with a gmail account installed this yet? It notifies you of new mail and you can use it as a messagner like MSN.

I have been using Google Desktop for a couple days now. It's pretty cool. Puts a sidebar on your screen (can be hidden or autohide) with gmail/outlook email previews, stocks, weather, CPU info, previews of pictures, RSS news feeds, etc. Try it out.

Also, Scott and I had our first Gtalk call...pretty cool and easy.

Who else has got this installed?

The last thing I am doing is adding another layer of background programs at home.. much less one that is voice chat. Vent works fine if voicechat is required. I still need a bigger HD as it is.

This would not fly at work.

It's just a MSN messenger cloan with voice that you can choose not to use. And it acts as your gmail notifier when email is received. I bet it takes less memory then MSN. Michelle is able to use it at work and all other messengers are blocked.

The desktop bar is a bit more memory intensive. Not recommended if you can't install your own programs at work etc.

I dont use MSN at home either... I have virtually NOTHING running in the background that is not needed...

Stuff at my work is primarily blocked due to bandwidth usage.. and there is some blockage due to content it seems. I'm just not that into IM's I guess.
