Anyone have a camera that uses smartmedia cards? I'll give you a 64mb card for free if you download the pics from it for me and put them on a CD.

Our camera at work here decided to die.

Anyone know of a good replacement, something good for use on a construction site? Contractor grade etc?

Do you need Uber High end Megapixles??

If not...
For outdoor use, abuse, utility, compact, and handy a year ago you had 3 main options.

I got the Pentax Optio 33WR. True waterresistant seal on the two "hatch's". Supossidly can be submerged, and even rinsed off if dropped in sand, dirt etc. No moving parts, no motorized lense. Very compact & pocket size. Downside is its only 3.2 MP and because its not very deep, has a short focal point, so it uses a digital zoom more than most cameras. I got this because I've broken work cameras before with motorized lense when they get opened in a pack and burn up the little motor to push lense out.

Olympus basically has the only other true waterresistant camera I've seen (same type of gasket and seals). Several friends of mine have them. Very nice. I believe they're available with 4-5 mp versions. Main diff for me was this is a traditional compact camera style that has the slide sideways cover and a motorized lense. Has a better zoom then obviously.

Canon makes a Plastic waterproof case specifically for some of its smaller cameras. I believe it makes it function completely underwater, and provides a significant degree of impact & grit/dirt protection. However the camera itself is about the price of the previous 2 (same range) but then the Waterproof case is another $100+ dollars so I passed on this one.

I then have a really nice high end Sony with 5MP and 10x zoom (was top of the line when we got it in 2002).

I dont hesistate to take the Pentax over the sony tho. I shot pictures from the center back seat of a helo last week and the Pentax had great quality. 3.2MP doesnt seem to be very limiting when I can view them so big on the computer, blow up, and have a decent color printer.

Hope that helps a little, tell me what u deciede on, as my research of whats out there is only timely to when we purchase gear.
