Some zombie goodness coming up..

Halloween see's the start of The Walking Dead series on AMC, everything I've read is good about it..

Also just came across the other show today, Dead Set, had never heard about it before, but it looks like it got positive reviews...

British 5 part mini-series from 2008, setting: Zombie outbreak during the filming of Big Brother, they even copied the real British BB house.... :D

For anyone interested, episode 1 of the Walking Dead leaked online a week early. Available on most torrent sites. I have a tracker for it if you want to catch me on gtalk. I haven't watched it yet so I can't comment on the quality.

Just finished it, pretty good quality although not HD. Good episode too, the first one is an hour and a half. Pretty high production value for a TV show too.

Watched the pilot last night..

I'd give it a solid 4 stars... Pretty good start... The only negative imo is that the CGI is a little hokey, definitely B-ish grade, but they kept its use to a minimum. Alternatively the make-up affects look top notch imo, very realistic..

I think it's been amazing so far. Although I am mad the first season is only 6 episodes. Really well made show, they didn't cut any corners budget wise which is rare for an unproven show.

I think it was casted pretty well also.

My, and many other people's, only criticism of The Walking Dead has been kind of weak writing, and some just unnecessary slowness in moving the story along.

Luckily that problem seems to be resolved for next season. All it took was firing every one of the writers.

Wow, I didn't find the dialogue that weak, but the whole thing with him cutting off his hand instead of the threaded piece of metal was just lazy, and I absolutely noticed they didn't fix the RV, although the guy did say (I don't know anyones name yet) "well make something work" or something along those lines... Guess they figured that was enough...

I've watched the first 3 episodes over again and it didn't drag as much the second time..

Unlike other series that are created without the foundation of a good source like the graphic novel in this case, I know the story is going somewhere so I can wait a little too...

I still hate that Rick is such a nancy girl. The choice is obvious that he needs to kill that kid! I like Shane and Daryl much better than Rick, but what are the odds they will kill Rick off. Dale had to go though. I actually thought he was going to kill himself when he was walking alone like that. Realizing what the world has turned into and all.

I'm a big fan of them showing the human interaction side of a zombie apocalypse. Most zombie movies just cover the issue of the undead hunting humans, but it's cool to see how people would react when there is no law or people to enforce one.

Ok, I know all zombie movies/shows are different but I am confused on who turns into a zombie. So now it seems that anyone that dies (from a zombie or natural causes) turns into a zombie? I thought it was bite or scratched by a zombie. Or am I missing something.

Great episode last night and it looks like we are in for a great one next week also!

The thing from the comic book is that they are all "infected" so if they die they come back as a zombie. It has some continuity issues with the show though.

I haven't read the actual comic series, but read what Kyr is saying in the Wiki entry or something, its a different "disease" than we've previously seen in other zombie flicks... There is no set time from when someone dies to re-animation... some may take seconds, some may take days... I assume the reason that we wont see Dale reanimating is, they shot him in the head... This is the first "natural death" and re-animation that has occurred in the story line.. Everyone else has died from being eaten, or in the case of the little sister, bite, changes, then they shot her..

I liked it.. Not quite as great as the last two episodes but it was still good.. Although they should of shown Herschel reload at least 1 time before the scene where Rick saves him... It was a little hokey, but I think they pulled off the feeling of chaos pretty well... Except for poor "Jimmy" did he open that door to the RV? I was like wtf would you try to get out, and not just drive around with Rick and Carl on the roof of the RV.

And I think if I really had to people would be willing to squeeze all those people into the Kia... (a shitty running suburban, and a 40 year old pickup?? With gas being so hard to come by, don't you think you'd get two vehicles that dont' get some of the worst gas mileage possible...)

July 7-8 is a season 3 preview weekend. There will be a special look at season 3 and a special episode of The Talking Dead. I love that show. If you guys never really watched The Talking Dead after each episode you should in season 3.

S3: E2 was fucking fantastic. The character development of Rick is right on par with Walter White, i think better in some respects. Plus i think Andrew Lincoln is in some ways a more complex actor as well than Bryan C. I would expect some nominations for him this year.

If by insane you mean constantly over the top and distracting from the plot, then yes it's fairly insane. Old Bugeyes should only be that excitable when she's getting it in the dumper.

I actually like Claire Danes on that show. I thought she pulled off the manic parts of season 1 flawlessly. This season though Brody gets the overacting award. He can't play stressed/anxious with dialogue. In season 1 any time he was stressed it was quiet and it worked. Him trying to make excuses for his actions while being all panicked is like me trying to tell my parents it wasn't MY pot.

I thought the finale was terrible. To have such a build up for an entire season and then fizzle out was just ridiculous. This reminded me of Heroes. It seemed like this is the season where they killed off every character who the audience didn't like or ones that didn't work. Little surprised they offed Andrea but that was a product of how annoying her character has been since her sister died in season 1. The assault on the prison was laughable. I feel robbed that they didn't have Daryl off the Governor as vengeance for Merle. Then the Governor inexplicably kills all his own people and takes his show on the road. Rick takes people from a perfectly fortified city and moves them to a dank prison? Why? I am willing to suspend some disbelief in a show about zombies but this show just loves daring you to stop watching it. Would love for them to actually put together ONE FULL quality season.
