Only a couple days left of Open Beta.

My take on the Beta:


Game play is much like BF3 but the interface is much much better. The map/spawn point interface is very nice compared the BF3
I am not a big fan of C4 being moved to the scout (from the support class in BF3). The scout/sniper is already very vulnerable close in and it's just a lot harder to sneak up on a tank with a pistol. My beta kill death ratio is like .7 mostly due to kamikaze style attempts to C4 tanks.
There are too many tanks/vehicles. I like to be rewarded for destroying a tank with a bit of a time off and the re-spawns are too fast.
Like the addition of the elevators to the roofs to kill the annoying snipers.
I like the select able zoom on the sniper rifles. I do not like the vapor trail snipers leave (as a sniper its hard to see where you bullet went when looking down a vapor trail)
Teamwork is encouraged with the scout laser scope working with the default engineer RPG. When you have someone spotting tanks and helis its fairly easy to damage vehicles. When you don't have a spotter is impossible to shot down aircraft (and it takes a bit to unlock the stinger that is the same as BF3 and no one ever uses it)
When you damage an enemy and someone in your squad kills them you also get a kill. Another reward for working together.
Voice chat works well when used. So far not used a lot but was great when it did. Several people with open mics and I did hear a young annoying kid once
You only have 5 seconds to revive teammates..... I think in BF3 you had at least 10. I hope they change that in the release.

Unlocked last night. Gameplay is much smoother compared to the beta. I have 1 crash to desktop during a map change but otherwise it played good.

I am trying to force myself to level Assault and Sniper first this time around. Boy did I take a beating last night in team death match trying to level up and get the defibrillator...I think I went 5-18 uggg.

Server patch went live today.... I was getting pretty annoyed with losing exp and unlocks due to my stats not being synced to EA.

Yeah I was locking up/crashing over 50% of the time before I updated the Vid Card drivers with the ones released on 10/31... Now I'm only crashing about 25% of the time.

I will update my drivers tonight I didn't know there were new ones. I have been getting the crash to desktop but the battlelog states I have been disconnected from the server. Not sure if that's client or server. I know a couple times it was definitely server side as I was rolled back and lost my unlocks and exp. I think I have unlocked the defibrillator 3 times now...

And BTW it's only 25pts to revive a teammate which is lame. Spotting tanks and aircraft is 100 now with the sniper so I do that a lot while waiting for targets.

Updated to the beta drivers. Installed the new AMD game optimizer and set Bf4. Crashed twice but didn't lose stats. Better but not perfect.

I'm still locking-up and crashing way too much, pretty frustrating.

Install the new Beta driver and it includes the game optimizer. It will scan your system and find Bf4 etc. Then you can click a button to optimize for it.

I cant' wait for Mantle to be launched next month. I hope that fixes all this.

Yeah I just install the driver, not the full Catalyst package bloatware, I've had problems with the Catalyst stuff before.

Yesterdays patch installed some awesome graphic bugs, I just randomly get the 3D-ish/Suppression affect when I'm just standing there, with no one firing at me. Repeats a few times a minute...

I have the same thing.... Hope that gets fixed asap. (I was playing with some graphics settings and thought it was my fault until I heard you mention it)

On a side note I upgraded my "guest" computer with a $109 motherboard/CPU combo package... I am honestly surprised at how well the AMD FX6300 (6 core) processor does. With my recently RMA video card Nvidia 660 and the FX chip I can get 77 fps in BF4 on high settings.

I love the list of bugs that were fixed in the last patch.

They finally fixed the Battle Log app on the Nexus 7. It's now formatted correctly to fit the high resolution screen. However, I still think it's too small of a screen to see the map on. I prefer my laptop.

FYI - if you log into battlelog on a 2nd computer (or the app) when you join a game the blue bar will pop up at the bottom. Click battle screen and you see a real-time map of the game. It's actually quite useful.

China rising was released yesterday to Premium members. I played one round on each of the 4 new maps. First impression - LARGE maps which are pretty cool. Lots of high ground and dirtbikes are back for quick transport.

Update from last night... I kinda liked it before this change.



“Netcode” improvement
We’ve addressed the so-called “Kill trading”. This refers to when two players fire at each other and, seemingly, both die at the same time. The time window where a bullet could cause damage from an already dead player is now calculated as intended, decreasing the timeframe when players with high latency could get a kill, even though they should be dead according to the server.

I really like the SRAW but it does low damage and you of course need to stay locked on and can't hide. How to use:

Tip:
You can unlock C4 on both sniper and support.
You can unlock the Drone on sniper by killing one person with the bomber

My favorite guns for each class:

Assault: AEK-971 (25 Max Damage - takes 5.5 bullets to kill) 900RPM 31 Mag size. This gun take a bit to unlock but it's insane. Super fast fire rate.

Engineer: Whatever carbine you like or the MK11 Mod 0 Designated Marksmen Rifle....(Semi auto only)

Support: LSAT (Fast machine gun that is pretty steady but takes an extra hit to kill) or unlock M249 from single player.

Sniper: L96 Sniper Rifle - finish the assignment:


The assignment for this is called Need Only One. Get sniper ribbon three times, and then get one kill each with a shotgun, a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), and C4, again using each open in one round.
