I got a entry level smart phone. Mainly because I am cheap. I can temporarily root it with z4root, but when I try to permanenly root it it doesn't take and I have to UN root it. Any thoughts, I want to get rid of all the Verizon shit.

After a quick search on phandroid.com I came up with this... but it sounds like you already did this.
Use Z4root to root the phone, then install Titanium Backup to remove the bloat.
Download from here: http://ted.servepics.com/nap/droid/z4root.1.3.0.zip
Rename the file to .apk instead of .zip, and place the file on your SD card.
If you don't have Astro or ES File Explorer, download one of them from the market, open the program, then go in to the SD card and click on the icon for the file, and it'll install.
Also it looks like if you took the upgrade to 2.2.1 you CANNOT root. So downgrade to 2.2

Thanks ill try.that.
I am using a custom ROM now (that has all the Verizon bloat removed) but when I was just using the stock system on my OG Droid I think I used "root explorer" to remove all the verizon stuff. And of course get wireless teather app after you are rooted for free teathering.
Rooted now it's.time to remove the bloat.
